University Counselling

In line with the Primary Goals of Confucius International School Qingdao; where we facilitate the realisation of the full academic potential within each and every student, and are committed to the formation of young men and women of outstanding virtue, leaders of integrity and individuals of quality – the University Counselling Office of Confucius International School Qingdao are a team of specialised individuals committed to supporting and guiding your son or daughter during their time at the school, and into the future University or School or their choice.

Academics

We are proud of the students academic achievement, CISQD as a whole person education base, our outstanding academic performance is obvious to all, have a very good reputation between parents and educators. The students of CISQD are doing well in the IGCSE and A Level global test of CIE and Edexcels.

ECA

ECA is a variety of auxiliary teaching activities which is different from the classroom teaching. Students can choose and participate according to their own interests,hobbies, expertise and practical needs. These extracurricular activities not only can develop the students enthusiasm and initiative, but also can develop their talents and personality.

CURRICULUM

GCSE Curriculum
To satisfy our academic aims the compulsory subjects include English, Mathematics and Science.
As pupils consider their GCSE option choices they are asked, in the G1 year, to select their chosen subjects from a given list.
The teachers constructs option boxes which usually satisfies all requests. As pupils make these choices an extensive guidance and advice programme is provided by teachers and tutors.
A Level Curriculum
It is in the Sixth Form that our students really take full control of their learning. The range of subjects on offer and the special quality of the relationships between staff and pupils really makes Sixth Form study exciting. We want our students to develop enquiring minds and a love of learning, as well as making the most of the larger number of leadership and extra-curricular opportunities.
Each Sixth Former is given guidance by teachers, tutors and leadership through the two years leading to university to enable them to make the most informed decisions.  Classes are generally small, and teachers are on hand to provide extra help and advice where needed, and in particular with applications to University.

G1

The curriculum has been devised to assist the School’s aims delivering a high quality all round education; it is continuously reviewed to ensure that it is relevant, innovative and challenging.
During G1 students will learn a wide range of subjects, but with a heavy focus on the acquisition of English language. Students also learn Confucian Studies and Chinese.Students entering G1 follow a broad curriculum which aims to give them a sound preparation for their GCSE courses and allow them to make an informed choice of their optional GCSE subjects, in addition to extending their skills in English language. Students would normally sit the GCSE Mathematics exams at the end of this year.

G2

At G2 all pupils study English, Maths and five option subjects from a list of Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Business Studies, Economics, History and Art.  Mathematics is also studied at AS Level.

AS

Pupils entering AS are generally expected to study five subjects at AS level in the Lower Sixth and then continue with three to five of these subjects through to A-level in the Upper Sixth.  Generally, students will also take A Level Mathematics whilst in Lower Sixth.  Students usually take A Level Further Mathematics in Upper Sixth.  In their Sixth Form years, pupils will also take PE lessons and receive lessons towards IELTS, TOFEL and SAT, as required by their respective university choices.

A2

At each stage when students are expected to make subject choices a comprehensive program of advice for students and their parents is offered by the University Counseling Department, Admissions Department, tutors and school leadership, who maintain an overview of all academic matters.

In 2016, Miko Jiang scored the highest in China for CIE IGCSE Accounting; In 2017, Brian Zheng scored the highest in China for Edexcel A-level Further Maths. Angelica reached the top one score in the global maths competition. The achievements of them are the well-deserved prize for the diligence and handwork.

n order to comprehensive the students' self-confidence, self-discipline, leadership and team cooperation spirit, CISQD has made sure that every afternoon arrangements are diversification, including MUN, Confucius College, Piano, Folk Music, Arts, Drawing, Dance, Small Businese, Debate, Computer Programming, Chinese Chess, Basketball, Football, Swimming, Rugby, Tennis, Fitness, Ping Pong and so on. Among them, Model United Nations Club is one of the most successful and characteristic.

MUN

Every year, the students of CISQD organize and participate in the Model United Nations of Princeton University and Harvard University.
During the activities, students attended as "diplomatic representatives", discuss the draft and cooperate with each other. They have improved their English skills, teamwork and leadership.
The students of CISQD will organize and participate in the ASDAN business competition every year. By simulating the real business environment and field research, the students can apply the knowledge of business, economy and accounting.
